Day 01 – Cochin
You are greeted on arrival at the Kochi International Airport/Railway station and transfered to the hotel at cochin. In the afternoon, visit Athirapilly waterfalls. 12
Day 02 – Munnar
Morning after Breakfast depart for Munnar (130 kms / 4 hrs) enjoying the scenic beauty & the marvelous waterfalls(Cheeyappara), high mountains with the low flying clouds passing by. Visit local sites, tea estates around Munnar. Night stay Munnar. 12
Day 03- Munnar
Morning sightseeing in Munnar which includes Raja Malai, a top peak of Munnar where you may see Neel Thar (mountain goats), Tea Museum, Mattupetty, Eco-Point etc. You can also enjoy boating in the Kundala Lake.
Day 04 – Thekkady
Morning drive to Thekkady covering a distance of 110 kms / 3.5 hrs through cardamom hills. Check into the Resort. After lunch visit spice plantation like cardamom, Pepper, Coffee, and tea estate etc…
Day 05 – Alleppy
Today morning after breakfast 09.00 hrs drive to backwater place, you can see panoramic backwater stretches, lush paddy fields. On arrival check into your Resort/ Hotel/ Houseboat and rest of the day at lesiure. Night Stay Alleppy
Day 06 - Cochin
Checkout from the Hotel/ resort after breakfast and drive back to Cochin. Drop to the Cochin airport for onward flight. Tour ends with happy memories of Kerala.

1-Alleppy

Referred to as the Venice of the East, Alleppy or Alappuzha has always enjoyed an important place in the maritime history of Kerala. Today, it is famous for its boat races, backwater holidays, beaches, marine products and coir industry. Alappuzha beach is a popular picnic spot. The pier, which extends into the sea here, is over 137 years old. Entertainment facilities at the Vijaya Beach Park add to the attraction of the beach. There is also an old lighthouse nearby which is greatly fascinating to visitors.

Another delightful experience while in Alappuzha is a houseboat cruise. The ones you find in the backwaters of Alappuzha are in fact reworked version of kettuvallams of olden times. The original kettuvallams or rice barges used to carry tons of rice and spices. The kettuvallam or 'boat with knots' was so called because the entire boat was held together with coir knots only.

Now a days these houseboats comes with all creature comforts of a good hotel including furnished bedrooms, modern toilets, cozy living rooms, a kitchen and even a balcony for angling. And one can always enjoy uninterrupted views of backwater life while staying in a houseboat.

2- Cochin

 

Cochin or Kochi represents different things to different people.

To many, it is an emerging cosmopolitan city , To some others, Kochi is a place with deep roots in history and its streets exude an old-world charm
In short, Kochi offers a cocktail of modernity, old-world charm and a global outlook williams commerce

 

 Kochi had been a main port city, not only of Kerala, but also of the Indian Peninsula. Since the 14th century, Kochi, known as the Queen of the Arabian Sea, has had ships from Asian and European countries visiting her port.

 

Kochi  is an indiscriminate mix of hilly areas, estuaries and backwaters, small islands, coastal cities like Fort Kochi and Mattancherry and plain terrain like that of the city of Ernakulam.

With its interesting monuments, geographic peculiarities, and emerging cosmopolitan nature, Kochi can keep a tourist engrossed for days. 

 

3- Kovalam & Thiruanantpuram

 

Kovalam is an internationally renowned beach with three adjacent crescent beaches. It has been a favourite haunt of tourists.

The leisure options available here includes Sunbathing, swimming, herbal body toning massages, special cultural programmes and catamaran cruising etc.

Ayurvedic health resorts, convention facilities, shopping zones, swimming pools, Yoga and Ayurvedic massage centres are available at the beach complex.

Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, is just 16 km away from Kovalam and getting there is no hassle.

The City of Thiruvananthapuram has interesting places to see like the Napier Museum, the Sri Chitra Art Gallery, the Padmanabhaswamy Temple the richest temple in world, Ponmudi hill station etc. SMSM Institute, a State owned handicrafts emporium, is the ideal place to pick up ethnic curios and other articles.

Best time to visit: September to March, though it is an all-year-round destination.

 

4- Kumarkom

 

Location: 16 km away from Kottayam town, Central Kerala.

Kumarakom is a cluster of little islands on the Vembanad Lake, and is part of the Kuttanad region. The bird sanctuary here, which is spread across 14 acres . Egrets, darters, herons, teals, waterfowls, cuckoo, wild duck and migratory birds like the Siberian Stork visit here .

Kumarakom offers visitors many other leisure options. Boating and fishing facilities are available here.

Holiday packages involving houseboats, traditional Kettuvalloms (rice barges) offer great experiences.

5- Munnar

Munnar is situated at the confluence of three mountain streams - Muthirapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala, and perched about 1600 m above sea level, this hill station was once used to be the summer resort of the erstwhile British administration in south India. Presently it serves as one of the most popular destinations in kerala.

This hill station is marked by vast expanses of tea plantations, colonial bungalows, rivulets, waterfalls and cool weather. It is also an ideal destination for trekking and mountain biking.

 Eravikulam National Park

Anamudi Peak
Located inside the Eravikulam National Park, this is the highest peak in south India standing at a height of over 2700 m..

Mattupetty,

 Mattupetty is known for its storage masonry dam and the beautiful lake, which offers pleasurable boat ridesPallivasal
 

Pallivasal,

located at about 3 km from Chithirapuram in Munnar is the venue of the first Hydro-electric project in Kerala.

Chinnakanal
The waterfalls here, popularly known as Power House Waterfalls, cascade down a steep rock 2000 m above sea level.

Anayirangal
is a lush green carpet of tea plants. The Anayirangal dam is surrounded by tea plantations and evergreen forests.

Top Station
At a height of 1700 m above sea level. It is the highest point on the Munnar-Kodaikanal road.

Tea Museum

museum exclusively for tea was opened some years ago by Tata Tea in Munnar. This Tea Museum houses curios, photographs and machineries; all of which have a story to tell on the origins and growth of tea plantations in Munnar. The museum is located at the Nallathanni Estate of Tata Tea in Munnar.

 

5- Thekkady

 

The word Thekkady brings up images of unending chains of hills and spice scented plantations. The Periyar forests of Thekkady are one of the finest wildlife reserves in India famous for its elephants. Spice plantations are spread across entire district & it’s a great place for mountain trecks.

Flora & fauna

Over 1900 flowering plants including  more than 150 grass species 140  species of orchids are found here. ‘Podocarpus wallichianus’ the only south Indian conifer grows in the forests of Periyar Tiger Reserve. Plantations of Tea, cardamom, pepper and coffee are found in the areas adjoining the Tiger Reserve

More than 30 species of mammals which include the Asian elephant, Indian bison,  Indian wild dog, Barking deer, Smooth-coated otter can be seen during a boat cruise in the Periyar Lake. The Nilgiri tahr , the endangered lion tailed macaque , Nilgiri langur can also be spoted here. One can also spot the omnipresent Malabar giant squirrel near the boat landing.

More than 250 species of birds are found here  including migrants. The Malabar grey hornbill, The Indian pied hornbill,  many species of drongos, woodpeckers, flycatchers, babblers, the spectacular Malabar trogon, etc can be seen near the boat landing.

 Cobra, viper, krait, a number of non-poisonous snakes, and the Indian monitor lizard along with amphibians like the colorful Malabar gliding frog, fungoid frog, bicolored frog, many species of toads, and limbless caecilians are present here.

Several species of fish including the masheer, the famous and endangered game fish of India are found in the Periyar lake and streams. The Smooth-coated otter can be frequently spotted from the boat.

 

6- Wayanad

Altitude: 700 - 2100 m above sea level

A bio-diverse region spread across more than 2000 sq kilometers on the Western Ghats, Wayanad is one of the few districts in Kerala that has been able to retain its pristine nature.The hills of  Wayanad are home for some of the oldest tribes, as yet untouched by civilization, the very first prehistoric engravings in Kerala was discovered in the foothills of Edakkal and around Ambukuthimala proves its close relation with the pre historic culture. Wayanad is great place for sightseeing & is known for its sub-tropical savannahs, picturesque hill stations, sprawling spice plantations, lush green forests and rich cultural traditions. A holistic confluence of wilderness, history and culture, Wayanad is located on the southern tip of kerala.
